Gamble-tastic!

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Last night we had a poker night over at Si’s house - 8 of us got together to play poker, drink beer and eat pizza. Needless to say, I wasn’t playing for all that long - I thought the idea of the game was to lose all your chips, obviously.

It wouldn’t have been a real poker night without some comedy accessories, and you can see what we looked like here :o)

Week 29

In case you hadn’t worked it out, the Race for Life is this week’s first ;o)

Race for Life 2006

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Well, I’d just like to announce that I did it!! Sunday morning at 11am over 10,000 women set off on Southampton Common in 28oC heat to run the 5km race, and I managed to jog the whole course(no stopping!!) in 44 minutes. Not very fast, but not all that suprising considering how bloody hot it was!

Still, I’m very happy that I managed to keep my word and run the whole race, and I’d just like to say a huge thank you to all the people who sponsored me for it. Simon was lovely and drove me to and from the race, and made me drink my body weight in water and lucozade! He took some rather nice photos of the event which you can see here.

Roll on Race for Life 2007!!

Week 28

Friday, July 14th, 2006

This week’s first was a rather sporty little number - I ran the Sports Relief Mile at work. I’m not overly impressed with the time(12 minutes) but at least I didn’t stop at all and felt like I could’ve kept going for a fair way longer - good news for Sunday really ;o)

Oh, and while I’m on the subject, there’s still time to sponsor me for the Race for Life in Southampton on Sunday morning - go on, you know you want to!!

Week 27

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

Ooooh, just realised that I’m over half way through this resolution thingy - woo!!

Anyway, week 27’s antics were completely unplanned, and what I would class as a lesson for life. As you may have heard me moaning about, I’ve had a headache pretty much since I’ve been back from Corfu. And it’s one of those lovely headaches that don’t really go during the course of the day, and that aspirins just don’t shift. Nice.

Anyway, after a chat to mum, she said I should go and see the doc for a checkup, and to make sure my brain was still in my head. After shining lights in my eyes and making me do what looked very much like sobriety tests, she confirmed that she couldn’t really see anything wrong, and prescribed me some nice co-codamol. So, like a good little girl I took these on friday night, and they made me feel loads better. Then I woke up on saturday, took a couple of tablets, then went in the shower, had breakfast, and went out shopping(as you do).

Half way through purchasing Ghostbusters(again, as you do) in Virgin, I suddenly started feeling a little ropey, so we headed back home. Apparently codeine doesn’t like being taken on an empty stomach, or, more appropriately, my stomach doesn’t like me taking codeine without food. Cue a couple of hours of feeling very ill and trying not to spew everywhere. Lovely.

I know, I’m stupid. I know you shouldn’t take pain killers on an empty stomach. Trust me, won’t be repeating that one in a hurry!

Well, there we go…

… a big glass of lucozade in front of the tv …… £1
… a bag of haribo to eat while you’re watching France vs Portugal ……… £0.89
… seeing that cheating little shit Ronaldo cry when Portugal lose……

PRICELESS!!!!

Week 26

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Hooooooolllllliiiiiiddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy !!!

Yup, that’s right, I was allowed out of the country and ventured back to the sunny shores of Corfu once more. However, rather than being down south in Kavos this time, I headed up north with Bethan and her family to Kassiopi. Very nice week, ate more than my body weight in feta again, became a delicacy for the local mozzies, and provided everyone with a good giggle watching my reactions to the England v Portugal match. Oh, and I made a new friend called Louis.

So, visiting Kassiopi has got to be this week’s first :o)

Week 25

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Well, after a couple of weeks of staring and dribbling at a new digital camera, it was only a matter of time before I crumbled and bought it. So, this week’s first …… I bought myself my first ever Canon digital camera - an A700 Powershot to be precise.

And it’s very shiny :o)

Week 24

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Went into Southampton this weekend to pick up a few bits and bobs, and stumbled upon the Hampshire Farmer’s Market. Ended up trying a few bits and bobs, and eventually bought a bottle of New Forest wine that Si and I demolished on Saturday night …… something we’d never tried before :o)

Week 23

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

This week, Si and I headed back to Margate to have the family part of my birthday celebrations.

But…… things didn’t quite go to plan, and as there were loads of traffic problems, we decided to stop in at his brother’s place and his parent’s place on the way. So, I got to meet Louise, little baby Nicole, and Si’s mum and dad - so that’s this week’s first :o)

Great weekend was had having my hair coloured bright pink, watching the football, and playing football and frisbee with all the family. And the weather was good too, which is always a bonus :o)
