Week 17

Friday, April 28th, 2006

…… and this week’s new thing for me to do was join the gym. You know, that place where people get all hot and sweaty and exercise …… now do you see why I’ve never joined one before?

Anyway, joined and had the induction yesterday ….. they did the whole weighing you bit and checking your blood pressure - given that ‘normal’ is 120/80, and given that I’m ridiculously busy and under pressure, guess how high mine came out? (Si, you’re banned from guessing ;o) )

So, look forward to seeing a slicker, more toned, and generally healthier liz next time you see me. Or, more likely, you’ll see me looking exactly the same and being as lazy as before.

Week 16

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

As you’ll all know, I haven’t had my hair at it’s ‘normal’ colour since I was about 16. Well, decided that it needed a bit of a change again, so nipped off to see Karen and try something new. So, I’ve got blonde streaks again(which isn’t really that much of a suprise) …….. and bright pink ones too(never had these before). Yup, electric pink streaks. Mmmmm, pink.

Follow up to the raw sewage debate …….

……. well, I think we’ve found the answer. Martin sent me this link earlier, which gives me the impression that it’s because you can, in fact, eat it cooked.

Ew.

Oooh, week 15

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Well, what a jolly week!! Got back to Kent on friday night, went to see Lizzie^Ben and a Bethan, then headed to Margate on Saturday morning to make mud pie. Headed off with the twins, Chloe and Chris to see Ramsgate thrash Newport 6-0 (then again, they’re from the Isle of Wight, so they probably were at a disadvantage playing with webbed feet) then all back home for huuuuuuuuuge birthday party thing for Chloe and the boys.

Decided that as I had a week off, it’d probably be a good time to think about starting to train for the Race For Life - 5km of running joy (*cough* sponsor me *cough*) . So, I headed out and nearly died when I got back from a 800m jog …… defintely going to be an uphill struggle this one :o( Anyway, a few days of jogging later and I felt like I was finally getting somewhere, and managed to achieve this week’s new first …….. I ran a mile. Just the one. Doesn’t sound far to most people, but I really am a crap runner, and it’s a huge milestone(bad pun intended) for me and my training. The actual race is about 3 miles, so I’m about a third of the way ready.

Then, in typical Liz fashion, I managed to injure myself - I’ve got shin splints in my right leg(and not shit sticks, skin flints, or shit stinks as I’ve managed to tell everyone) Basically, it’s from running on hard ground when you’re not used to it, and is something to do with the differences in strength between calf and shin muscles(from what I could gather from a Google or two) - so, I’ve taken a few days off training, and have a bandaged and iced right ankle. Went out again yesterday for a jog - managed a mile again but it started to get sore about 200 yards from the end so I walked it. Fingers crossed for another jog later - doesn’t hurt again today :o)

Also went to see Margate v Worthing on Saturday(0-0), just about to have a KFC now(mmmmmm kfc) before heading off to watch Ramsgate v Dover. Great holiday!!

New game?

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Well, it’s official, Bird Flu has hit the coast of sunny Scotland - cue mad panic, news stories of a severe lack of government planning and a load of suits talking about a global pandemic.

Over tea today we decided that it’s going to just be another SARS - a few random deaths and nowhere near as exciting as the journalists will have us believe. So, the game ‘Russian-Chicken Roulette’ was born. Think Russian Roulette, but instead of a bullet in a gun, think an infected chicken in a farmyard. I’m sure you can see where this is going ;o)

Still, won’t stop me eating my KFC. mmmmmm, KFC *drool*

Week 14

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

Ooooh, hark at me, I went to the theatre don’tyaknow. Went as part of a group of IBM girls to see the Vagina Monologues at the Mayflower in Southampton, and I don’t think any of us have laughed that hard in a long time.

Excellent show, thoroughly recommend it, go see it, and thanks to Claire for organising it for us ;o) Now, has anyone seen Bob? ;o)

Week 13

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

*sighs* This week’s first was, as anyone who knows me, entirely unplanned and definitely unneeded. After a weekend up north, then staying at Si’s place, I managed to leave all my stuff in the boot of my car. So, when tuesday afternoon came, and martin offered me a lift home with him after a trip to the cinema, I did the natural thing and agreed.

It was only when I got home that night that I realised that I’d left all my stuff in the boot of my car …… my wash stuff ……. various pills and potions ……. and gizmo. GIZMO! I’d left him in my bag in the boot of my car! First time that he and I have been parted for over 13 years!

This is definitely a first I don’t want to repeat again :o(
