More tea, vicar?

Monday, January 30th, 2006

I’m not sure who submitted this article to the lovely people at the Inquirer. But it sums the whole thing up quite nicely.

Might stop people blowing up their flasks, at least.

Week 4

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Well, it’s taken it’s sweet time coming, but ……. finally week 4’s resolution task is complete. This week we undertook a science experiment, as heard on Radio 1 last week, and

the results can be seen in this cracking little movie
(NB if you’re using Firefox, you might want to right click, save target as - well, unless you can view video as loads of letters and numbers)

- apologies to all for it being a wmv file, but I’m not arsing around recoding it at this time of night ;o)

On to week 5 ……

Anticlimax !

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

Alas, this morning’s video shoot didn’t go as well as expected (booooooo)!, so there’ll be a reshoot tomorrow morning, and hopefully I can put the video up for it over the weekend for all to see what stupid antics I’m up to for this week’s resolution ‘first’ ……

Fun with Dick and Jane, and Memoirs of a Geisha

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

Well, Fun with Dick and Jane was actually quite amusing. Being that I hadn’t seen a trailer and had no clue what it was about, I enjoyed it.

Memoirs of a Geisha on the other hand was poo. Two and a half long hours of the stuff. Basically, women dress themselves up and sell themselves off the the highest bidder……seems like an ‘interesting’ culture to some, seems bloody silly to me. Quote of the evening, by far though, has to be the guy in the movie talking to someone after WW2 and explaining how nice hospitable the Japanese people are…………..maybe the history books are different over there?

Why exactly are they called …..

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

… camper vans? I enjoyed a lovely drive home from work tonight with Mr Andrew and Mr Martin, and, shock horror, we were engaged in yet another intense round of the emergency services game. After many dubious calls of ‘yellow car’ from Martin (I still don’t believe you saw a yellow mini at the roundabout Martin :oP), Andrew very nearly incorrectly shouted ‘ambulance’ as we passed a camper van.

So that led us to the discussion …….. why are they called camper vans? Is it as simple as the fact that they are used for camping holidays? Or is it something to do with the way it looks or acts around other vans? Is it a personality thing? And if all this is so, which van is the basis for camp-ness comparison?

It’s a puzzler :oS

Ooh, week 3

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

Well, this week’s first was very cool. Our frisbee team, huc.it just designed a disc for ourselves, and they got delivered late last week. This week was the first practice with our new discs, and we played many games with my disc …. hence my new thing for this week being the playing of a game of ultimate with my own disc ….. look at the shiny toy :o)

In other news, today I found out that I’ve been co-opped onto the Hursley Clubhouse committee \o/ I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to be doing yet, but I can’t wait to get involved :o)

Sam tagged me…….so ……..

On to week 2 ….

Monday, January 16th, 2006

Well, this one wasn’t quite as interesting as last week’s. Due to being really busy at work at the moment(for a variety of reasons that really aren’t all that interesting), this week my new thing was to work a Saturday in the office. Not all that exciting, I know, but it’s something I’ve never done before, so it counts :oP

There were two backup options for week 2, one of these will be used this week, and *fingers crossed* the other one will be the week after. Lucky you lot, this coming week’s one will have a sexy picture with it ;o)

Week 1 of the resolution

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

… is now complete. Went off to get my hair done this morning - have ended up with blonde and black streaks(which, for some reason, make the purple ones from before stand out more). But, this is not the ‘new thing’ for week one. Oh no.

Tonight I went with Hazel to a place in Ramsgate to have Hopi Ear Candle therapy. Basically, they stick a hollow candle type thingummybobby in your ear, and burn it - the resulting vacuum up the middle of the candle cleans out your ears. A friend of ours suggested it as something to try at the Brownie leader’s christmas meal, and so Hazel and I offed to get it done. It doesn’t hurt at all, and if anything makes you want to nod off. As the candle burns, you get a whooshing sound in your ear. Oh, and of course, that means you can’t hear what else is going on in the room. Which is nice, when you’ve got a belly that was rumbling quite as badly as mine was :oS

On to week two …..

Happy New Year!

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Well, the obligatory post on the 1st Jan …. Happy Birthday to Dad - we’ve got all the family coming round today, so it’s likely to be another mad one!

Suppose I should formally announce the resolution where people can see it ….. in 2006 I intend to try doing/eating/seeing/etc something new every week. I’ll probably keep the blog up to date with what I’ve been up to, but feel free to email me some suggestions…I’ll probably need some more ideas by February ;o)

And, unlike my mother, I intend to keep my resolution. She broke hers within 10 minutes of midnight……. I’ll let you guess what it was ;o)
