Last couple of days

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Had a weekend down in canters - I’m sure you can read up about what happened on another blog somewhere, so I won’t bother re-telling what went on.

I’m taking a few days off of this blogging malarkey - I’ve got some stuff I need to sort out in lizworld, and it’s probably best that I don’t bung it on here in the public domain

A leaving do ….. and a night out with a hookah

Friday, June 24th, 2005

Well, certainly had a good night out! Celebrating Yaser’s year with us here at work with a what-should’ve-been-one-hour-but-ended-up-as-one-and-a-half-hours four a side football match in the clubhouse. Again, I outdid myself on the injury front, twisting my ankle and falling on my arse, then getting hit in the face with the ball, then there was the incident where I saved a shot with my thigh, which is now nicely bruised. By far the best, however, is the kick I took to the ankle which has swollen up about twice normal size and is looking to be turning an interesting shade of purple :oS

Anyhoo, after that, a few games of bowling, and a few drinks, then off to Memora for some food. Very nice place - Moroccan food, and lots of it. Matt, Carl and I also decided to try out a hookah, and I’ve now learned the art of blowing smoke rings. I think we nearly killed our boss when he tried it tho :o/

Then, off to Lizard Lounge, Orange Bar and Mono for a few more drinks, before heading back to mine for some bongo action, some Spaced and Shaun of the Dead.

Only one problem ……. I can’t walk properly this morning cos of my ankle, and my throat is killing from that hookah…….

I’m Batman

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

Well, 4 of us went to see Batman Begins last night, and it was pretty cool. Michael Caine is an inspired Alfred, and the line “I hope you’re not a fireman” had me in stitches. Definitely worth going to see if you get chance.

In other news, the curtain pole didn’t stick up properly with no more nails, so I’m going to have to make a trip to the orange receipted place and buy some new plugs and screw the thing up again. Thank god for still having Andy’s power tool collection.

A message from the Greek embassy

Monday, June 20th, 2005

Had a chat today with Vassilis, a good friend from my time in America. We shared a flat together while we were there, and he ignited a certain passion in me for feta and all things Greek :o)

Anyway, he’s got an interview with a company in Southampton tomorrow, and, depending on how that goes, he might be moving to the area \o/ We will be reunited at last, to cause some havoc - just ask foo about our party we threw in our flat before we left San Francisco ;o)

I’m a happy bunny *bounce*

Grand Pricks

Sunday, June 19th, 2005

Well, that was a bit of a non-event, wasn’t it? I’m hoping the FIA will do something about it, and I’m not just saying that because that annoying German bloke won again. I’m glad I didn’t waste 2 hours sitting on my arse watching the whole thing, and instead went to watch Mr and Mrs Smith.

Somewhat disappointingly, no emergency services vehicles and a zero on the nipple count. Still, not a bad movie.

DIY ….. my arse

Saturday, June 18th, 2005

Well, after a good start, things have gone belly-up for today’s changing rooms effort. The ceiling got 2 nice coats of white paint to get rid of the icky beige that was up there before, and looks 110% better.

On the down side, the curtain pole couldn’t be put up, as we couldn’t drill a deep enough hole for the centre 2 plugs, so I’ve got to sort that out tomorrow. Also, the fitting of the new light didn’t quite go to plan, so I’m sitting in the dark with 9 wires dangling from the ceiling, and a job for tomorrow (as well as a trip to my new favourite place…..B&Q) I swear, by the time I get this place how I want it, I’ll have enough little orange receipts to wallpaper the spare room with them.

Anyway, that’s enough for today - got some sorting out to do tomorrow, then fingers crossed we can go to the cinema tomorrow night, after missing out tonight. Thanks again Andrew for the help today - my ceiling has never looked better ;o)

Pub Lunch

Friday, June 17th, 2005

mmm, big fat burger and chips for dinner in the White Horse in Ampfield. Coupled with a nice pint of Greene King, the games of ‘thumb on the forehead’ as well as the ever present ‘buffalo club’ ensued, as did the emergency services game all the way home (with the new addition of the yellow car rule, damn you andrew ;o) )

Got to order a few bits from Argos this afternoon, as I need to replace that sodding light before I have any chance of persuading my able and willing decorator to come paint the ceiling. Best get to it …

New Blog

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

Well, I thought it was about time I kept one of these things up to date. So until I get my new house and website sorted out, here’s a temporary solution to my severe lack of online chuff-writing, an exercise that I am well skilled in ;o)

As you all know, I’ve just moved into my new place, aided by ‘my men’ who helped with the removal job, and one of which is heading over this weekend to help paint the living room ceiling (god bless tall people ;o) ) And there’s the small matter of changing the light fitting so that everyone stops banging their nut on it when they walk across the room.
